Sierra Nevada

The most southerly ski resort in Europe, Sierra Nevada is perfect for a break on the slopes late into the traditional season. Being one of the continent's highest resorts means that snow coverage runs over a long season, meaning you can book a break from November through to April and even sometimes the first week in May.

Its location in southern mainland Spain also means the resort is easily accessed via a range of transport. However, one of the most convenient ways to get there is to catch a flight to Malaga Airport, from which you can be transferred to the resort within two hours. So if you're planning a break in Sierra Nevada, why not book one of our flights to Malaga using the tool on this page?

Springtime Skiing in Sierra Nevada

Offering some of the most extensive and varied skiing in Spain, this popular snow resort is popular for its unusual location, being just a stone’s throw away from the Mediterranean. Containing the highest concentration of peaks over 3,000m in the country, the terrain offers suitable runs for all levels of skiing, all of which are overlooked by the impressive 3,398m Veleta Peak.

Being practically guaranteed sunshine throughout your stay, you can enjoy peak conditions and visibility at all times – meaning its perfect for all the family. Throughout the season you'll find plenty of children’s facilities on offer, including a recreation zone with activities such as ski biking, inner tubing and ice-skating.

Summer at Sierra Nevada Ski Resort

Whilst the resort can boast of an unusually long skiing season, there's plenty to do once snow coverage wanes. Walking, cycling horse-riding and mountain climbing are on offer throughout the summer months, while the cable cars are also kept open throughout July and August, meaning that visitors can continue to enjoy the scenic views and offering an easy way to get to the peak of Veleta. On a clear day it’s even been known for hikers to catch a glimpse of Africa from the summit.
