HomeMediaNewsJuly 2017Flybe Deluged With Apples Flybe Deluged with Apples Leading regional airline hosts first ever ‘Flybe Knowledge’ session with leading Exeter taxi company Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, was deluged by scores of local taxi drivers working for Apple Taxi Central yesterday (Wednesday 12th July 2017) as over 100 cabbies took time out to learn more about one of their largest corporate clients and hear about the new ‘Flybe Knowledge’ programme. This is designed to give those taking part the opportunity to learn about the company and become experts on the routes and services the airline operates to and from Exeter Airport. It was a meeting of like minds with two of the South West’s most successful public transport companies joining forces to boost an understanding of the 19 routes that Flybe deliver out of Exeter Airport this summer – and also hear more about the airport itself. With Apple operating over 250 taxis within Exeter and Flybe flying 230 flights in and out of Exeter Airport every week, both play a key part in the South West economy. The ‘Flybe Knowledge’ encourages drivers to learn more about how the Exeter based airline fits into the local area and also for them to act as a valuable source of information for any prospective passengers, whether they are local to Devon or visiting to the region for the first time. The two sessions were timed to attract both day and night shift drivers who heard presentations from both Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s Chief Revenue Officer and Exeter Airport MD, Matt Roach. Vincent Hodder, Flybe Chief Revenue Officer commented “It was a privilege to speak with so many drivers from Apple Central Taxis and we sincerely thank all of those who took the time out of their busy schedules to join us for these special sessions. Both companies and the airport all directly feed into one another and the more information we can all share, the better for everyone and the better service we can offer our customers. Flybe’s routes connect regional communities and nobody knows the local area better than local taxi drivers who play a key role in passengers’ travel experiences.” Steve Screech, Apple Central Taxi’s Managing Director comments “We were absolutely delighted to be able to hear more about Flybe and Exeter International Airport at these presentations. Our relationship with both of these two businesses is key to the development and growth of our very own business and it was great to listen to what they had to say, although I was slightly disappointed that I didn't win the flights!" “As Exeter's leading taxi company, we are delighted to have the opportunity to provide a taxi service for one of Exeter's key businesses. Having just renewed our taxi contract with Flybe and gained the Exeter Airport contract for a further 8 years, Flybe and the airport will be central to our business development in the years ahead, providing job security for many of our staff.
