FLYBE REPORTS SURGE IN SALES AHEAD OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL
Leading regional airline adds extra capacity to meet customer demand from European football supporters travelling to Cardiff
22ND May 2017
Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has reported a surge in sales on its European routes into Cardiff and Birmingham as football supporters continue to snap up seats in the bid to make their way to the Welsh capital for one of the biggest games in the football calendar. The 2017 Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Juventus is being played at the Principality Stadium on Saturday 3rd June.
The demand from Juventus fans in particular has resulted in Flybe adding extra capacity with larger aircraft operating between Milan and Birmingham between 2nd and 4th June.
Flybe operates 15 routes in total to and from Cardiff airport and all its European services are benefitting from extra bookings as fans including those from Paris, Berlin, Dublin and Munich take advantage of the fast, convenient and direct flights.
Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s Chief Revenue Officer, comments: “Flybe specialises in connecting people and communities and we will always try and go the extra mile in trying to accommodate the many extra fans wanting to support their various teams and attend high profile sporting events throughout the year. The demand for our flights into both Cardiff and Birmingham highlights shows just how much of a European-wide attraction the Champions League final, is. Customers travelling with us will have the extra time they save by flying to the match actually enjoying the atmosphere rather than spending gruelling hours travelling there by road, rail and ferry. May the best team win!”
