Leading regional airline asks passengers to dig deep for CRUK this June

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, today begins a month-long on-board collection to raise vital research funds for its chosen charity partner, Cancer Research UK.  Since 2008, Flybe staff and customers have generously donated more than £630,000 to the charity to help in the fight to beat cancer sooner.

Passengers on all of the flights operated by Flybe this month will be invited to make a donation and bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. 

Cancer Research UK doctors, scientists and nurses have made consistent progress in the fight against cancer.  Today, two in four people will still be alive 10 years or more after a cancer diagnosis. Cancer Research UK’s ambition is to accelerate progress so that number rises to three in four people by 2034, and Flybe wants to help make that a reality.

Saad Hammad, Flybe’s CEO, comments: “This is the eighth year of our partnership with Cancer Research UK and our staff and customers have given so generously to this special cause. In 2015 alone we raised £140,000 and we’d like 2016 to be another record breaking year for donations.”

Every time a Flybe passenger hands over their loose change we get that bit closer to our goal; we rely on donations to support our research and help us beat cancer sooner.”

Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for its ground-breaking research.  So funds raised through supporters like Flybe and its customers is crucial to the work of the doctors, nurses and scientists who work day and night to fight cancer on all fronts.
