Leading regional airline celebrates first major passenger milestone at new base

20 AUGUST 2015

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has celebrated its first major milestone at Bournemouth Airport with its 50,000th passenger travelling through the airport today (19th August 2015) on a flight to Paris Charles de Gaulle.  To mark the occasion Flybe’s Regional General Manager UK (South), Paul Willoughby and Bournemouth Airport MD Paul Knight, made a special presentation to the surprised passenger.
Mr Willoughby commented: “We are really pleased to be celebrating our 50,000th passenger milestone at Bournemouth already. Flybe is committed to providing convenient and affordable travel, connecting people not only across the regions but also onwards to the rest of the world and we very much look forward to celebrating our next landmark.”

Bournemouth Airport MD, Paul Knight, added: “The new Flybe routes are proving extremely popular and it’s interesting that they are appealing to a broad range of passengers.  It was a pleasure meeting their 50,00th passenger – and we’re already looking to the celebrations for their 100,000th passenger!”

The airline officially opened its new base at Bournemouth Airport in May from where it operates two 78-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft. Flybe has recently confirmed its 2015-16 winter schedule which features six routes to Amsterdam, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Dublin, Glasgow, Jersey and Manchester.

Highlights of Flybe’s winter programme include up to two convenient flights a day to Glasgow, daily flights to Jersey, and a twice daily service to the airline’s Manchester hub from where passengers can connect seamlessly onwards with Flybe services to Edinburgh, Belfast City and the Isle of Man – but also on to destinations much farther afield with Flybe’s codeshare and interline partners (when booked through a travel agent).  As an example, one passenger recently connected onwards with interline partner US Airways to Philadelphia and then on to his final destination at Baltimore – having checked in his bags at Bournemouth Airport!

Flybe’s winter programme offers a choice of up to 82 flights a week for travel between 25th October 2015 and 26th March, 2016. One way fares are from £24.99 including taxes and charges and available for booking at
