Flybe Redhead flight readying for take off
Europe's largest regional airline looking to set redhead record on Inverness to Amsterdam flight with fun-filled red carpet flight
Flybe’s specially designated redhead flight from Inverness to Amsterdam on August 30th is looking set to turn heads in more ways than one. All is being readied for the sold-out red carpet flight that will receive a special VIP send-off by Inverness’ own Member of Parliament, and well-known Scottish redhead, the Rt. Hon. Danny Alexander MP; a self-proclaimed ‘proud to be ginger’ singer, Caroline England who will serenade passengers with one of her ‘redhead’ songs, and a local 95 year-old Inverness resident, believed to be Scotland’s oldest natural redhead. This, plus a special guest appearance by someone who will need absolutely no introduction together with the quartet of Flybe crew - all of whom are red-haired – will ensure that this will most definitely be a flight for the record books!
Europe’s largest regional airline is hoping to create an unofficial world record by carrying the largest ever number of redheads on a scheduled passenger flight that will also be piloted by a redheaded Flybe captain and cabin crew. Passengers will be served with appropriately themed complimentary refreshments and offered ginger beer courtesy of Ginger Grouse.
Simon Lilley, Flybe’s Director of Marketing, says: “This is a fun initiative and we hope that everyone enjoys being a part of what we hope will create a little bit of aviation history.”
The flight marks the start if the annual Dutch Redhead Days’ festival in Breda that is expected to attract in excess of 5,000 redheads from around the world to attend the three-day event.
Festival media manager, Mike Klaassen, who will also be on board, comments: “I’m hugely excited to be part of this Flybe flight that will take many people from Scotland to Holland for this big celebration. The town of Breda is eagerly awaiting all the Flybe redheads coming our way and we are preparing a great welcome for them.”
Captain Gaeron Kayley, adds: “I’ve always been proud of my natural red hair so it’s a real honour for me to pilot this special flight from Inverness to Amsterdam. The rest of the crew are redheads too and we are all really looking forward to welcoming many others on board as passengers. We hope everyone will enjoy the experience.”
