FLYBE CELEBRATES THREE YEARS OF CONNECTING CORNWALL TO THE SOUTH EAST & THE REST OF THE WORLD

Leading regional airline marks three successful years of popular Newquay – London Gatwick route

Flybe, Europe’s leading regional airline and the UK’s Number One Domestic airline, has today marked the third anniversary of its popular Newquay to London Gatwick service with a presentation of free flights to those passengers on the morning flight seated in Row 3!
Welcoming the inbound flight to present free flights to the surprised passengers was Cornwall Airport Newquay’s Finance Director, Keith Marshall.
During its first three years of operation, the route has proved increasingly popular with its convenient timings for fast and convenient access to London and the South East and, in 2011 the route enjoyed a 22% increase in day return passengers over the previous year.  In addition, and of special interest to the Cornish economy, is that 55% of travellers using this key route in 2011 were inbound passengers to Newquay departing from London Gatwick.
The consistency of Flybe’s on-time performance on flights out of London Gatwick,* from where it carries more domestic passengers than any other airline,** is also an important consideration for those needing a quick, affordable and reliable method of travelling quickly across the breadth of the country.
Simon Lilley, Flybe’s Director of Marketing, comments: “We are delighted to mark this milestone today and especially pleased that the service is also of benefit to the Cornish economy and the Cornish travelling public.”

Cornwall Airport Newquay’s Finance Director, Keith Marshall, commented: “This is an exciting year for the UK, in particular London, with the Diamond Jubilee, Olympic Games and Paralympics all being hosted in our capital. Flybe’s frequent daily flights mean the city is easily accessible by air from Cornwall Airport Newquay. It also opens up the option to escape the hustle and bustle and relax in Cornwall. Flybe’s continued commitment to Newquay for the third consecutive year on this London Gatwick route indicates its popularity  -  long may it continue.”

Added Mr Lilley: “We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our passengers for their support in making this route the success it has become. We are also particularly proud of the fact that this route is also helping to open up the region to the rest of the world. For example,  our extensive interline partnerships with airlines like Emirates, Air France and Virgin Atlantic allows Cornish travellers to check-in their baggage at Cornwall Airport Newquay and pick it up again when they arrive at such far-flung destinations as Atlanta, Denmark, Dubai, Orlando and Singapore!”

Flybe offers a convenient choice of up to 42 flights a week between Newquay and London Gatwick. Full schedule details are available at www.flybe.com with seats available for booking from £31.99 one way including taxes and charges.
