Sir Timothy (Timo) Anderson
Independent Non-Executive Director - appointed 1st May 2014 (aged 59)
Sir Timo Anderson provides management consultancy services to corporate and government clients in the Aerospace, Defence and Security sector. He established the UK Military Aviation Authority (the body responsible for military aviation regulation and safety), becoming its first Director General from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that Sir Timo was Assistant Chief of Air Staff, Royal Air Force. He served in the Royal Air Force from 1979, going on to hold senior command appointments. Sir Timo chairs the Safety and Security Committee. He also sits on the Nomination, Remuneration and Audit Committees.
Independent Non-Executive Director - appointed 1st August 2014 (aged 54)
Elizabeth McMeikan is the Senior Independent Director at JD Wetherspoon plc and chairs the Remuneration Committee at Unite Group plc. Elizabeth is also a Non-Executive Director at Fresca Group, a Â£365m private business, Chairman of the Moat Housing Association, Non-Executive Director at CH&Co Group, a Â£200m private company, and a director of the charity Second Growth. Elizabeth spent her early career at Colgate-Palmolive and then at Tesco, establishing Tesco Express and being appointed Stores Board Director for Change Management and Human Resources. She chairs Flybeâs Remuneration Committee, and sits on the Nomination Committee, Safety and Security Committee and Audit Committee.
Senior Independent Non-Executive Director â appointed 3rd March 2015 (aged 69)
David Kappler is a director of a number of private companies. He was previously Deputy Chairman and Senior Independent Director at Shire plc and a Non-Executive Director at InterContinental Hotels Group, Premier Foods, HMV and Camelot. He is a qualified accountant and between 1995 and 2004 he was CFO at CadburySchweppes. David is Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Remuneration and Nomination Committees.
Non- Executive Chairman – appointed 4th November 2013
Simon Laffin was appointed to the Flybe Board as NonExecutive Chairman. Simon is also Chairman of Assura Group plc, a Non-Executive Director at Watkin Jones plc and an adviser to Dentsu Inc. Previously he was Group Finance and Property Director at Safeway plc between 1994 and 2004 and he has served as a Non-Executive Director at Quintain Estates & Development plc, Aegis Group plc, Mitchells & Butlers plc and Northern Rock plc (as part of the rescue team), an adviser to CVC Capital Partners, and Chairman of Hozelock Group. Simon chairs Flybe’s Nomination Committee and sits on the Remuneration Committee. Following the departure of the previous Chief Executive Officer, Saad Hammad on 26th October 2016, Simon Laffin acted as Executive Chairman, until the new Chief Executive Officer, Christine Ourmieres-Widener was in situ. Simon returned to his NonExecutive role on 20th January 2017.
Christine Ourmieres-Widener appointed 16th January 2017
Christine Ourmieres-Widener has had a lengthy career in the aviation and travel sectors, having first started in the maintenance department of Air France before working her way up to become the airline’s UK and Ireland General Manager and later Vice President in New York. She was Chief Executive of CityJet between 2010 and 2015 and then Chief Global Sales Officer for American Express Global Business Travel before joining Flybe as CEO in January 2017. Christine has a Masters in Aeronautics from the École Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et d’Aérotechnique (ENSMA) and an MBA from ESSEC Business School.
Interim Chief Financial Officer - appointed 15th August 2017
Prior to joining Flybe Ian had a twenty-year career at British Airways/International Airlines Group, culminating in serving as IAG's Group Financial Controller and BA's Director of Integration. Earlier in his career, Ian worked in the London office of Ernst & Young and later wrote a book on international airline accounting, 'Bridging the GAAP'. He left IAG in 2016 to set up his own consulting business.
Luke Farajallah, Chief Operating Officer – appointed 1st April 2015
Luke is responsible for the key operations functions (flight operations, crew planning, operational control centre, ground operations, engineering, and Flybe’s maintenance and repair organisation). Luke joined Flybe from Bond Offshore Helicopters where he held the position of Managing Director. He has previously held senior operational roles with British Airways (where he spent 17 years), easyJet (where he was the Regional Operations General Manager for the UK), Wizz Air, as Chief Operations Officer, and more recently, roles in Spain with Spanair and Volotea.
Chief Information Officer – appointed 1st March 2017
Peter recently joined Flybe to lead the IT function and to fulfil a critical role in developing the IT platform and building a digital strategy. Peter has over 20 years of operational and IT experience in aviation and he joins Flybe from Thomas Cook Group Airlines where he was IT Director. Prior to that he was Chief Information Officer at Air Berlin.
Chief Strategy Officer – appointed 1st October 2017
Responsible for looking at new areas of business for Flybe. Vincent joined Flybe as Chief Revenue Officer in December 2015 and was previously Chief Commercial Officer at VivaAerobus in Mexico, Executive Director and Senior Vice President of Operations in Tokyo for Jetstar, and Vice President for Strategic Development at Grupo TACA in El Salvador. He also spent three years at Bain & Co where he worked for airline clients in Australia and South Africa. Vincent holds a BA in Commerce and an MBA from Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne.
Interim Chief Commercial Officer - appointed 1st October 2017
Ronnie is responsible for Flybe’s Commercial function. He joined Flybe in November 2013 as the Director of Revenue Management where he oversaw the successful implementation of a new Revenue Management System. Ronnie began his career in aviation with British Airways in 1998 before moving to GB Airways and then easyjet where he established the Yield Development arm of the Revenue Management team for 7 years. He joined Flybe from Whitbread where he headed up the Northern Trading team within the Revenue Management department for Premier Inn hotels.
Director of Communications - appointed 9th August 2017
Simon is the strategic lead for Flybe’s public relations, corporate, crisis and internal communications as well as leading its government affairs activities. A graduate of City University, London, in Aeronautical Engineering, he also holds an MSc from Cranfield University in the UK in Air Transport Management. His career in aviation spans more than 20 years – before joining Flybe in 2017 he was the Director General of the European Regions Airline Association leading their advocacy, communications, events and publications work on behalf of their 52 airline members. Previously he held positions at the Flight Data Company and the International Federation of Airline Pilots’ Associations.
General Counsel & Company Secretary – appointed 4th January 2016
Kate joined Flybe from London Heathrow Airport Holdings, formerly known as BAA, where she was Head of Legal for Operations, Corporate and Litigation. Kate trained in the City with Linklaters, qualifying into the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department and then worked for two further London firms before moving in-house. She has a wealth of legal experience which includes corporate governance, regulatory and competition law (including health, safety and the environment), commercial dispute resolution, procurement and contracts, employment law and airport security. Kate has a BA (Hons) in Law from Durham University.
