If you are driving from central Hamburg, the average journey time is around 25 minutes, though it’s wise to allow a little extra time before taking any flights from Hamburg. From the city centre, follow the signs that take you onto the B433 motorway. Take the turn-off when you see the exit sign for ‘Flughafen’ and you’ll be directly at the airport.

If you’re just being dropped off, you can use the metered parking area, but if your companion wants to come into the terminal as well, you should head to the P2 or P4 multi-storey car parks. For long stay car parking, choose the Holiday Smart parking at the end of the terminal, or the Holiday parking which includes a shuttle bus to the terminal. There is also dedicated parking for electric vehicles in the P4 car park.

Travelling by train from Hamburg city centre to Hamburg Airport is easy, with S1 S-Bahn services departing from Hauptbahnhof every 10 minutes during peak times. The train will arrive at the airport’s dedicated station, Flughafen, located directly in front of the terminals. Average journey time is around 25 minutes. Alternatively, the underground U1 U-Bahn service passes through Ohlsdorf, where you can change and pick up the S1 S-Bahn train directly to the airport.
