Getting to Aberdeen Airport

Aberdeen Airport is easily accessible via most modes of transport. If you’re driving, then you can get to it easily via the A96 and following the road signs.

If you’re coming from Aberdeen itself, you can get a bus from Guild Street station in the centre straight to the airport bus station. Coaches also take you to Guild Street if you’re travelling from outside Aberdeen.

Getting to the Aberdeen Airport by train is simple enough although there isn’t a station directly at the airport. Instead you’ll want to go to Dyce station, which is roughly 2 miles away. You can then take a taxi from there.

Wick John O’Groats Airport has several public transport options.

Wick town centre is only 1.5 miles from the airport so it’s very easy to get to. If you want to get a taxi, then there are several local operators that can either be pre-booked to meet you at the airport or booked at the airport terminal when you land.

There are also bus services from the airport that stop at Thurso and Wick.

Although there are no car hire operators based at the airport itself, there are some locally so if you want to get around by car, that’s always an option.

Best time of the year to visit John O'Groats

Being at the far north of Scotland, John O’Groats doesn’t get quite the warm weather as other parts of the UK enjoy during the summer but there are still times when it’s better to visit. For example, August is the hottest month, with average highs of 16°.

The coldest and wettest month is December so if good weather is important to you then you should obviously avoid visiting then.

The month with the least chance of rain is June.
