Getting to Aberdeen Airport

Aberdeen Airport is simple enough to get to, whether you’re travelling from within Aberdeen itself or from elsewhere in the UK.

If you’re going by car then you can get to the airport via the A96.

Getting to the airport by bus is also very simple and convenient, with regular services going from Aberdeen city centre and elsewhere throughout the day. You can also get a coach if you’re coming from outside Aberdeen. The main bus station in the city centre is Guild Street.

If you’re travelling by train, then Dyce is the closest station to the airport. It’s roughly two miles away so it’s very quick and cheap to get a taxi from there.

Getting to Birmingham City Centre

There are several options for getting to Birmingham city centre from the airport.

There are multiple car hire booths at the airport and driving to the city centre from there doesn’t take long since they’re just 8 miles apart. 

There is also an official taxi rank outside the terminals, with black cabs running 24/7.

You can use the 900 Airport Link bus to get to the city centre from the airport, which runs every 20 mins during the day and every 30 mins on evenings and Saturdays.

If you want to take a train, then you can get one at Birmingham International rail station. You can get to the station from the airport via Birmingham’s SkyRail service, which directly connects to the airport. From Birmingham International rail station, it’s just a 10-15 minute journey to the city centre.


Things to See & Do in Birmingham

There are some great things to do in Birmingham that are unique to the city, including Cadbury World and a Peaky Blinders escape room.

Cadbury World

If you’re a chocolate lover, then Cadbury World is a must-visit attraction. There are 14 different zones to visit that tell the story of Cadbury and how it came to be so successful. There’s an incredible amount to see and do, including a 4D cinema, video presentations, animatronics and interactive displays.

National Sea Life Centre

The National Sea Life Centre has a huge array of species that includes sharks, clown fish, jellyfish and piranhas.  In addition to this there are also some great events for kids, including Superheroes and Pirates and Mermaids. There is also the only 360 ocean tunnel in the UK.

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery has a fantastic collection of fine art as well as jewellery, ceramics, archaeology and metal works. If you’re interested in history, and art history in particular, then this is a must-visit on your trip to Birmingham.

Escape Live Peaky Blinders

Being the setting for the incredibly popular TV series, Peaky Blinders, it makes sense that Birmingham would be home to a Peaky Blinders escape room. You can play the game with between 2 and 6 people and you must work against the clock to try and escape by solving puzzles. The experience lasts for 60 minutes once the door locks. It’s a great way to pass an hour if you’re travelling in a group.

Best time of the year to visit Birmingham

If you want to visit Birmingham when it’s most likely to be sunny, then mid-June to mid-September would be the best time, with highs of around 21°.

Interestingly Birmingham has peak tourist months outside of the usual summer period, with October and January being two of the busiest months for tourism. This being the case, if you want to avoid crowds and spend less on travel and accommodation then spring would be the best time to visit.
