Facilities at Birmingham Airport Arrivals

Getting to Birmingham city centre by public transport

Birmingham Airport is very well-connected via public transport to Birmingham city centre, so you can easily get there by bus, coach or train after your flight. Buses and coaches serve the terminal building, and you can take the free Air-Rail Link monorail to the train station in just a couple of minutes.

By bus

Five bus services connect Birmingham Airport to Birmingham city centre, including a 24 hour bus service that runs 7 days a week. There is a bus stop located at the Airport Terminal, as well as a bus stop at Birmingham International Interchange (at the train station) which you can access via the Air-Rail link.

By train

Birmingham Airport benefits from a dedicated train station, Birmingham International Station, from where you can take a train to Birmingham New Street in the city centre - as well as over 100 UK towns and cities, including London. To get to the train station from the airport, take the free Air-Rail Link monorail service from the terminal building, which operates between 03:30 and 00:30 daily. Outside of these operating times, a courtesy bus service will run.

By coach

There are over 120 coach services operating daily from Birmingham Airport, which connect it to Birmingham city centre as well as many other main towns and cities in the UK. Coach passenger pick-up at Birmingham Airport is from the terminal building.

Getting to Birmingham city centre by car

Birmingham city centre is just a 10 minute journey from Birmingham Airport by car in normal traffic, and is well signposted from the airport. Birmingham Airport is located just off Junction 6 of the M42, right at the heart of the UK motorway network, so getting on your way to Birmingham city centre as well as other major UK cities by car from the airport is very straightforward.

Car hire at Birmingham Airport

Several major car hire companies operate from Birmingham Airport, including Avis and Budget, Flybe's car hire partners. To ensure a speedy departure from the terminal after your flight to Birmingham, and to secure the very best price, we recommend booking your car hire in advance.

Booking car hire with Avis and Budget is easy - simply add on a car hire option when booking your Flybe flights. The car hire desks are located in the Arrivals lounge, and the collect-and-return car parks are within walking distance of the terminal building, next to the entrance of Car Park 4.


Licensed Black Cabs operate a round-the-clock service from outside the Arrivals area at Birmingham Airport, and taxis for up to eight people are available. All taxis are able to take wheelchair passengers and have ample room for luggage too. The driver will run a meter for taxi journeys within Birmingham and to the city centre, and the cost of the journey will be around £20.
