Passenger assistance?

UK Air Passenger Duty - Flybe's stand point.

FACT: The UK is the most taxed aviation market in the world, with the possible exception of Chad*

  • Lower tax receipts from complete APD abolition (£3.2bn in 2014-15) would more than be made up by increased growth in GDP of over £5bn per annum over the next 3 years according to a recent report*.
  • Our fares are already down nearly 4% on average this year*** and falling oil prices are likely to reduce fares further over time. But the punitive APD tax remains a constant and has a huge impact on ticket prices. In fact, APD can be as much as 65% of a Flybe total ticket price.

*World Economic Forum (WEF) 2013 ** PWC “The economic impact of Air Passenger Duty” 2013. ** *3.7% decrease in the 9 months to December 2014 vs prior year.

Saad Hammad, CEO of Flybe, has sent an open letter to UK Chancellor George Osborne in an urgent call to reform Air Passenger Duty. Read more here.
