Flybe welcomes Bank of England Governor to Exeter HQ
Flybe, the UK’s Number One Domestic Airline,
was this morning delighted to welcome the Governor of the Bank of
England, Mervyn King, to its headquarters at Exeter Airport and honoured
to be the sole commercial business visited during his visit to the
city.
Mr King, who is also the Chairman of the Bank of England Monetary
Policy Committee, said: "I am delighted to be in Devon once again to
visit and speak to local businesses. I, and my colleagues on the Monetary
Policy Committee, are grateful for the time they take to pass insights and
information to the Bank's agents in the region. These are an
important part of the monthly MPC decision process and on this
occasion I am pleased to have had the opportunity to see for myself how businesses are
faring."
In commenting on the high profile visit, Flybe's Chairman and Chief Executive, Jim French commented: "It was a great honour to welcome the Governor to our Exeter HQ. We had a very productive meeting during which I impressed upon him the importance of the regions in driving the UK out of recession and how Flybe was playing its part in connecting the business communities around the country".
