Newcastle youngsters invited to draw picture to win chance of providing Kevin Keegan guard of honour at plane namingYoung players are being urged to produce a drawing of how they think the plane will look with a picture of the Newcastle United boss on the side. The winner will be able to invite nine friends along to meet the man himself when the aircraft is unveiled on July 3.
The lucky winner and friends will form a guard of honour for King Kev at the ceremony, at Newcastle International Airport. The triumphant artist will also bag four return flights for their family to any Flybe destination.
Flybe's Geordie Chief Commercial Officer, Mike Rutter said: "Kevin Keegan has proved an inspiration ever since he first joined Newcastle United back in 1982, and now he is working to bring the glory days back to Tyneside.
"It's because of this success and commitment to the cause that we have decided to make our own contribution and honour Kevin as one of the country's most well-known sporting heroes and icon to the people of Newcastle.
"The plane naming ceremony in July will see one of our Bombardier Q400 aircraft named after him, an accolade only previously bestowed on Southampton FC hero, Matt Le Tissier, and the late George Best.
"This competition offers one local youngster the opportunity of a lifetime to play a key role during the ceremony and to meet Kevin Keegan in person.
"What's more, the winner will win free flights for themselves and their family. So with the competition deadline fast approaching we'd urge all young Magpies' fans to get designing and to send in their entries before it's too late."
Entries should be no bigger than A4 size and should show what one of Flybe's Q400 aircraft might look like with a photo of Kevin Keegan on it. A photo of the Q400 aircraft can be found at www.flybe.com/gallery.
The winner, who will also present Keegan with a framed copy of their drawing, will be chosen by a team of judges at the airline. Deadline for entries is Monday June 23.
