FA Cup sees League Two side aiming to make it a Flybe FA Cup clean sweep

24 January 2008

Bury FC are hoping to take their third Flybe scalp this weekend as they meet Championship promotion hopefuls Southampton in the 5th Round of the FA Cup. And if they do it – Europe’s largest regional airline will be giving the squad and coach free flights as a reward!

Determined Bury will surely see the gesture as an added incentive after they knocked out Conference side Exeter and Norwich City earlier in the Cup – both of which are also sponsored by the low cost carrier.

With Southampton now manager-less after George Burley accepted Scotland’s manager role, the League Two strugglers will believe there is no better time to make it three out of three.

Flybe Chief Commercial Officer, Mike Rutter, said: “If Bury beat Southampton and do the Flybe treble, then we’ll gladly present Chris Brass and his 16 squad members with a free return flight each to any of our 162 destinations.”

“Naturally, as a Flybe sponsored team, we’ll be rooting for Southampton to go as far as they can in the Cup, but given Bury’s propensity to knock out our teams, we thought we’d throw the offer of free flights for them into the mix!”
