Flybe Statement on Preliminary Safety Findings of Latest SAS Incident

Following an ‘All Operator Message’ from Bombardier on October 31st, the manufacturers of the Dash 8 Q400 aircraft, a Flybe spokesman said:“We are pleased that, after discussions between EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency), the Scandinavian Civil Aviation Authority, Transport Canada and the manufacturers that the preliminary results of the investigation ‘do not warrant any interruption to Q400 operations’ “’
The spokesman went on to say:
“We look forward to seeing the final report into the latest SAS incident and into the maintenance regime on the aircraft. What is absolutely clear from this latest information is that, as we confidently predicted, the Q400 remains a safe aircraft. Its time for the over-excitable media coverage to stop and concentrate instead on the importance of regional aviation, rather than ill-informed and over-simplified coverage of other airlines maintenance procedures”.
