Flybe Welcomes OFT Announcement

Flybe welcomes the announcement today (20 June 2007) from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) that it has formally accepted Flybe’s undertakings in relation to the acquisition of BA Connect and that the transaction will not be referred to the Competition Commission.Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, commented:
“The concerns of the OFT centered on just one out of the 152 routes Flybe now operates and we are pleased that the OFT has confirmed that, following our undertakings, they have agreed there is no issue. We always maintained there were no real competition issues and are pleased that this has now been borne out by today’s announcement.
“Flybe, now Europe's largest regional airline following the acquisition of BA Connect, has already brought the benefits of lower prices and attention to quality customer service levels offered to millions of BA Connect passengers travelling regionally to the business capitals and key tourist destinations of Europe.”
