Isle of Man passenger figures

04 May 2007

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, is delighted to announce that passenger figures for April have increased by 17.7% on the Isle of Man to Gatwick route.

Compared to April 2006, the figures for April 2007 show that this key business and leisure route is proving ever more popular with Isle of Man travellers looking to fly between the island and London and the South East. The results also demonstrate the dramatic turnaround that Flybe has instigated on a route previously operated by BA Connect.

Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe comments: “When we took over BA Connect’s services on the Isle of Man we said the acquisition would enable us to build a bigger and stronger airline, increase opportunities to develop routes and encourage further business to the area.

“These figures are a testament to the strength of our business model as in just one month we have turned an ailing route into a successful one.

“With greater regularity and punctuality the success of this route is helping to boost the local economy by bringing in business and leisure travellers alike. Flybe is dedicated to its Isle of Man base and is continually looking at ways to bring island travellers greater choice and flexibility.”
