Baggage

Please note the following rules and regulations regarding your baggage:

Hold baggage

Full details of Flybe’s baggage policies and charges

The maximum permissible weight, for health and safety reasons, for any single item of checked in baggage is 30kg.

Please note that, because we also need to allow passengers to carry skis, your additional 20kg will only be carried on a space available basis if you are travelling to or from the following airports; Chambery, Berne, Geneva and Salzburg. If we are unable to carry your bag to any of these destinations we will refund your second bag fee. This does not affect bookings for skis confirmed through the Flybe Customer Call Centre.

Hand baggage

You may carry 1 piece of hand baggage on board the aircraft. The maximum permitted dimensions are 50 x 35 x 23cm. It should not exceed 10kg. If you are travelling in Flybe Economy Plus you may also carry a laptop.

When measuring your baggage and where appropriate please ensure that you include the bag's wheels.

Important information on the carriage of liquids

Passengers can now take through airport security liquids such as toiletries including:

Please ensure that vessels holding liquids contain no more than 100ml each.

All individual liquid items must fit comfortably into one transparent, re-sealable bag no larger than 1 litre or approximately 20cm x 20cm (about the size of a small freezer bag). The bag must fit into the one permitted piece of cabin baggage but you will be asked to present the bag separately when going through airport security. Liquids of any amount may be carried in luggage checked into the aircraft hold.

Dangerous items

The following items will be refused and confiscated by the airport security officers under the guidelines of the Department of Transport. All dangerous items listed will not be carried.

Sharp items such as scissors, knives of any description, tools and sharp accessories including screwdrivers, imitation toy guns, hypodermic needles, sporting equipment or any item which may be considered to be a safety risk to the passengers or crew, are prohibited from the aircraft cabin and must be packed in Hold Baggage.

Items which are deemed dangerous or may affect the safety of the aircraft and/or its occupants will be confiscated. If you have any doubts regarding the suitability of an item, please contact the Flybe Customer Call Centre for further advice.

Firearms

Certain firearms may be carried on Flybe services, please contact the Customer Call Centre for further information. If your firearm is approved for travel you will be required to complete a firearms declaration form (pdf). Please ensure that you print this document and complete sections A and B prior to checking in for your flight. The firearms declaration document is made up of three copies - all of which should be completed in advance and presented at check-in.

Excess baggage

Excess baggage is carried on a standby basis only. Carriage will only take place if there is sufficient space available in the aircraft hold and will be subject to a charge (currently £12 (€14, 20CHF) per kilo for the first 3 kilos, £15 (€17, 25CHF) per kilo for between 4 and 6 kilos and £20 (€23, 34CHF) for every kilo there after). Charges may vary for franchise or code share routes not operated by Flybe, and will be applied at the prevailing rate when payment is made. Golfing equipment

Golf clubs may be pre-booked within 24 hours of making your flight booking through the Flybe Customer Call Centre and will be charged at £28 (€35, 52 CHF) per set per sector. In the event that our ski or golf club numbers have already been reached on your flights then you can cancel your booking with no penalty within 24 hours of the booking being made. In the event that our pre-booked golf club numbers have already been reached then your golf clubs will be accepted on a stand by basis only and no pre-booking is required.

Skis

Skis may be pre-booked within 24 hours of making your flight booking through the Flybe Customer Call centre and will be charged at £28 (€35, 52 CHF) per set, per sector. There is a limit on the amount of skis that can be carried. This is dependant upon the operating aircraft:

Other types of baggage

Exceptional items (golf clubs, bicycles, large musical instruments etc.) may be carried at a charge of £28 (€35, 52 CHF) per exceptional item. Snowboards and Surfboards may be carried at a charge of £28 (€35, 52 CHF) per exceptional item. Carriage is subject to space and weight and not as part of the personal allowance. Charge is applied regardless of any other baggage allowance.

Bicycles

Bicycles must be prepared as follows: Handlebars must be turned and locked in line with the frame, pedals must be removed or turned inwards, the front wheel must be removed and securely attached to the frame and the tyres must be fully deflated. The bicycle should then be bagged or boxed.

Surfboards, snowboards, windboards & sails

Carriage is on a stand-by basis. These items are carried for a charge of £28 (€35, 52 CHF) per sector. Flybe are able to accept boards and sails up to the following dimensions:

Pushchairs and car seats

Passengers may carry 1 pushchair or pram and 1 car seat for each child or infant. There is no charge for the carriage of pushchairs or car seats.

Loganair baggage policies

Passengers may carry one bag in the aircraft hold free of charge. The maximum weight of the bag must not exceed 20kg. Flybe Economy Plus passengers may carry a single bag weighing up to 30kg. The maximum permissible weight for any single item of checked in baggage is 30kg. An excess baggage charge of £10 (€13) will be applied for the second and subsequent bag loaded into the hold, or for any bag weighing more than 20kg. Any bag containing sharp items must be checked in and carried in the hold. Cabin baggage allowance is 6kg and limited to one bag with maximum dimensions of 45cm x 30cm x 23cm. Cabin baggage must fit into the gauge at the airport and will be weighed. Bags which exceed the size and/or weight restriction can only be carried as hold baggage, charges will apply. There is no baggage charge for unaccompanied minors. Exceptional items such as golf clubs or skis are charged at £10 (€13) per item per sector. Infants receive a 20kg baggage allowance. Loganair reserves the right to vary the baggage charges without prior notice. Charges will be applied at the prevailing rate at the time bags are booked.

Baggage Terms and Conditions

Celtic harps

Loganair can accept Celtic harps for carriage in the hold, the harps dimensions should not exceed 1.25m x 0.25m x 0.85m and should be packed in a suitable case, a maximum of one Celtic harp per aircraft may be carried, for booking of Celtic harps please contact Iainhunter@loganair.co.uk.

Liabilities

We shall have no liability whatsoever for damage to articles not permitted to be contained in checked Baggage, including fragile or perishable items, items having a special value, such as money, jewellery, precious metals, computers, personal electronic devices, negotiable papers, securities, or other valuables, business documents, passports and other identification documents, or samples. Please see the General Conditions of Carriage. It is in the passenger's own interests to ensure that they have adequate travel insurance or insurance which specifically covers the item(s) that are carried onboard or within the aircraft hold(s).

Special Declaration of Interest and Supplementary Value Charge

Under the Montreal Convention, Flybe's liability for lost, damaged or delayed baggage is limited to 1000 SDRs¹. Flybe will allow passengers to declare a higher value up to a maximum of 2,000 SDRs per person, provided that the criteria below can be met. A set administration charge of £25 (€40, 55CHF) per sector will be levied separately for the outward and return flight. A receipt will be issued for this amount. This is not an insurance premium. Any subsequent claim would be subject to proven loss. Passengers who wish to declare a supplementary value may do so at the Flybe ticket desk at the airport and must present themselves, with their baggage no later than 2 hours prior to departure. The request must be made and the supplementary value charge must be paid prior to check-in. The items must be appropriately packaged and the checked item must be suitably secured or locked. Flybe reserve the right to examine the items being declared and will detail these on an inventory which will be signed by the passenger and staff member. The checked item must then be locked by the passenger in the presence of the agent. Where a passenger has declared a supplementary value for their baggage it will only be accepted on Flybe services and cannot be through checked on to any other airline.
