FLYBE ANNOUNCES NEW ROUTE BETWEEN MANCHESTER AND AMSTERDAM

12th August 2014

Leading regional airline to fly daily between Manchester and Schiphol airports

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has confirmed its commitment to further growth with the announcement today (12th August 2014) of a brand new year-round route from Manchester to Amsterdam Schiphol airport starting as part of its 2014-15 Winter schedule. Tickets are on sale now at www.flybe.com with one way fares from £39.99 (€48) including taxes and charges.

The airline will operate daily flights between Manchester and to Amsterdam using 88-seat Embraer 175 jet aircraft, with flight times scheduled to appeal particularly to business travellers who need to accommodate a full day’s diary.

Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer said.

“Flybe is committed to offering an extensive regional route network to our customers. As ‘the fastest way from A to Flybe’, we are committed to growth and to building on our existing choice of routes to ensure people have the best possible choice of destinations from their local airports.”

“Flybe is the largest scheduled airline by the volume of traffic movements at Manchester and, based on existing evidence, the demand for flights between there and Amsterdam is already extremely high. This is why we have scheduled our new flights to ensure the best possible times for our business customers and also for those making Flybe connections through our Manchester hub onward to Schiphol.

“We are, of course, also delighted to add another route to our schedule out of Manchester and look forward to welcoming on board all our new passengers in October.”

Mats Sigurdson, Aviation Commercial Director for Manchester Airports Group (MAG), adds:

"Manchester is one of Flybe's largest bases and we are pleased they're continuing their growth performance by adding this additional service to Amsterdam. Connections to Amsterdam are consistently strong performers which are popular throughout the year with passengers travelling from the North of England to the Netherlands and onwards. "
