Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, today commenced its new Münster Osnabrück to London Southend service operated by its franchise partner, Stobart Air.
Münster Osnabrück passengers departed on the first service at 10:50, following the arrival earlier that morning of the first London Southend passengers.
The new daily service, with one-way fares from €34.99 including taxes and charges, aims to carry 25,000 passengers in its first full year, increasing to 100,000 passengers within three years.
London Southend is London’s newest airport and was recently recognised by consumers as the best airport in the United Kingdom. It is only 53 minutes by train to Liverpool Street Station in the centre of London, and 40 minutes by rail to Stratford Station which connects to London City’s financial district.
The airline’s Head of Revenue Management who was in Münster Osnabrück to mark the occasion, said he was delighted that the new service was now successfully underway.
Phil Collings, Head of Revenue Management, Stobart Air said:
“We are delighted to reintroduce a London Southend service to the people of Münster and Osnabrück and look forward to today’s passengers being the first of thousands who will experience our services in the years ahead. ‘Bookings for this new route have been strong since they were first announced in April. We are seeing a growing response from both leisure and business passengers who are attracted by competitive prices, convenient schedules and the efficiency of London Southend Airport.
Professor Gerd Stöwer, CEO of Münster Osnabrück International Airport said:
