Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, announced today that it will offer direct daily return flights between Münster Osnabrück and London Southend Airport from 5 June, 2014, operated by its franchise partner, Stobart Air.

A daily service, with one-way fares from €34.99 including taxes and charges, are available now for booking at flybe.com.

Flybe aims to carry over 100,000 passengers in the first three years of this route, starting with 25,000 in year one.

London Southend is London’s newest airport and was recently recognised by consumers as the best airport in the United Kingdom. It is only 53 minutes by train to Liverpool Street Station in the centre of London, and 40 minutes by rail to Stratford Station which connects to London City’s financial district.

The airport’s new terminal is less than 100 paces from a brand new rail station, with up to eight rail services every hour. Passengers with hand luggage can travel from plane to train in just 15 minutes. Security checks at the airport take a maximum of four minutes.

Speaking today at a press conference in Münster Osnabrück International Airport to announce the new route, Mr David Broderick, Chief Financial Officer, Stobart Air said that London Southend Airport represents an easy, accessible and value for money choice.

Mr Broderick said:

‘We are delighted to reintroduce a London Southend service with increased frequency. It means business and leisure passengers from Lower Saxony and Northern Westfalia now have a convenient and efficient connection to London. London-Southend is an airport that provides quick and easy access to the city centre of London.

‘We have worked very closely with the airport on this exciting new project, and we look forward to welcoming passengers from Münster Osnabrück and the wider region on board from 5 June,’ Mr Broderick concluded.

Prof. Gerd Stöwer, CEO of Münster/Osnabrück International Airport said:

“We are happy that Europe´s largest regional carrier will start daily flights between our airport and London-Southend, we are thankful that we can participate from day one from this exciting project where FlyBE cooperates with Stobart Air for the first time and we are sure to bring this project to a great success together”.
