Flybe repeats popular APD promotion and extends travel period to include Summer 2013 flights

Leading regional airline’s re-instates promotion highlighting unfairness of Air Passenger Duty by cutting one way fares by equivalent amount on 151 routes

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, is repeating one of its most popular promotions this weekend by reinstating a recent value for money deal that so obviously resonated with many of its customers. Passengers not only signed in their thousands the airline’s online petition to protest the Government’s unfair Air Passenger Duty departure tax, but also wanted an extension of the offer and requested that the travel period be adjusted to include Summer 2013 travel.

So this weekend, Flybe will again pay the Government’s Air Passenger Duty departure tax on behalf of customers making new bookings online from today  (Friday 19th) through to  Tuesday 23rd April across 151 of its routes currently on sale* and now effective for travel between 1st July 2013 and 25th October 2014. This limited time ‘tax rebate’ effectively lowers one way fares by £13, and by £26 on return UK domestic fares.

Simon Lilley, Flybe’s Director of Marketing comments: “Our original promotion was designed to highlight the unfairness of Air Passenger Duty especially for domestic passengers who have to pay twice. Due to its popularity and the overwhelming feedback we received, we have responded to requests to extend this offer as part of our ongoing commitment to offer ‘Great Prices for Great Britain’.”

Flybe continues to offer people the opportunity to sign the online APD petition at www.flybe.com/taxrebate  and will be presenting it later to the Government calling upon the Treasury to introduce a fair deal for UK domestic aviation.
