Influential Industry Magazine Re-Confirms Flybe as Europe's Largest Regional Airline and the World's Number One Independent Regional Operator

Airline Business 2011 Regional Rankings Confirm Flybe as Market Leader and only European Airline in the Global Regional Top Ten 9

Flybe has been re-confirmed as Europe’s largest regional carrier by the largest numbers of passengers carried in 2011* and is celebrating the fact that, in this year’s influential annual Airline Business Regional Rankings review, it has also received significant additional recognition as:

  • Europe’s number one regional airline, ahead of the likes of Lufthansa CityLine, KLM Cityhopper and Aegean.
  • Number 8 in the world measured by annual revenues (financial year to March 2012).
  • Number 10 in the world in terms of the numbers of passengers carried, the next featured UK airline trailing at number 65.
  • The only regional airline in the world’s top 10 which is neither owned by a larger airline nor operating exclusively feeder services for a bigger airline and therefore truly independent.

The recognition is particularly significant for Flybe in a year when it has marked its tenth anniversary since changing its business model that transformed the airline into Flybe.
