Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, comments: “Because Flybe is the UK’s Number One domestic airline, we know how important it is to keep Britain on the move. We especially recognise how vital it is for Cornwall to continue to have regular air access to key destinations.  We have every expectation that this new year-round route will become as popular as our London Gatwick service and that we will be able to increase frequency for Summer 2012.”

Newquay Cornwall Airport’s Managing Director, Al Titterington, added: “Flybe’s decision to commence operations from Newquay to Manchester is timely and a great boost to the airport. We are confident that there is a demand for air services to/from Cornwall and this announcement demonstrates that belief. The airport has a great relationship with Flybe and, as the UK number 1 domestic airline, they are ideally suited to service such an important destination as Manchester. It is vital that year round services to Manchester are maintained and Flybe recognises this important link.”

Cornwall Councillor and Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration, Chris Ridgers, says: “It is really good news for Cornwall to maintain this important link to Manchester. The Flybe brand in Cornwall and the South West is strong and we welcome this opportunity in furthering the relationship with Flybe as the main airline operating from Newquay, Cornwall’s Airport.”

Mr Rutter concluded: “Flybe makes no apologies for being a champion of the British regions and that’s why we have has stepped in so quickly to make sure that those business and leisure passengers wanting to travel between Newquay and Manchester are not left high and dry.”
