Leading regional airline hands over top sports prize funding to Broadclyst Primary
Flybe, Europe’s leading regional airline and the UK’s Number One Domestic carrier, has today presented a £300 cheque for the purchase of new sporting equipment to Broadclyst Community Primary School, the winners of the Flybe Schools Cup.
The Cup was organised in conjunction with Exeter City FC with 16 schools competing from across the region. Following a competitive day’s football, the top two teams then took part in a thrilling final to determine the winner which was played before Exeter City’s First Team’s home match against Leyton Orient at St James’ Park.
Flybe has worked with Exeter City FC for several years in evolving this popular tournament, with the aim of not only building relationships with local schools, but also to spot the next Liam Sercombe! As a result of the talent on display during this year’s competition, the Club has invited a number of the boys back for further trials with 15 now selected for training through the summer. This will hopefully result in them being given a place in the Exeter City Advanced Development Centre for next season.
Simon Lilley, Flybe’s Director of Marketing says: “We were delighted as always to help the Club build important community links – that is why we have enjoyed sponsoring Exeter for such a long time - they are a community-focused club at the heart of the region. Providing opportunities such as playing in front of thousands of people at St James Park was wonderful and finding the next rising stars now appears more than just a dream – but a real possibility.“
