Leading regional airline carries valued trophy for historic Island appearance

Flybe, the UK’s number one airline and one of Europe’s largest and most successful regional carriers, is helping make sporting history on the Isle of Man by flying the renowned FA Barclays Premier League Trophy for its first appearance on the island since 2005.

Flybe this morning flew the iconic football trophy, accompanied by two guards, on a scheduled flight from Birmingham to the Isle of Man where it was met by a VIP party that included Andrea Hayes, Flybe’s General Manager, Market Development and representatives from Barclays Wealth in the Isle of Man..  The trophy is scheduled to tour primary schools today and will make an appearance at Barclays Douglas branch tomorrow so that local football fans can have their photos taken with the trophy after which it will take centre stage this evening at a Barclays Wealth charity dinner.

Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mike Rutter, comments: “Flybe is honoured to have been chosen to carry the Premier League Trophy to the Isle of Man. As a company committed to serving the Isle of Man, we pride ourselves on championing community initiatives wherever possible and we are therefore especially proud to contribute towards giving so many football fans this memorable experience to see this trophy firsthand.”

Greg Ellison, Managing Director, Barclays Wealth said: ‘I would like to thank Flybe for their help in getting the Barclays Premiership trophy to the Island along with its security guards! Without the help of Flybe and other supporting organisations the visit would not have been possible.”
