Flybe confirms City support for another season and commits to Club’s Community Scheme
Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has today announced its continued sponsorship of Exeter City FC through to Summer 2010, again underlying its long term commitment and loyalty to the club and to the region that began back in 2002. Flybe will also have the option to extend the contract further during the course of next season.
The Flybe brand, which is now the most recognised mainstream consumer sponsorship brand amongst fans from the Football League Championship division, will continue to provide national credibility to The Grecians as their movement up the football ladder gains momentum.
The deal, which will provide financial bonuses to the club based on ‘on the pitch performance’, will also continue to focus on community development with further commitment to some key initiatives. These range from grass roots projects including the Club’s Community Scheme which will see Flybe working with the Club to offer free community coaching at local schools and further developing a variety of other activities for local primary schools.
Says Simon Lilley, Director of Marketing, Flybe: “The deal was tied up some months ago and the club have been assured of our commitment. We’re delighted to be extending the sponsorship and supporting our local heroes.. The fans at Exeter have been extremely supportive of Flybe, enabling us over the last few years to serve the wide range of destinations we do from the region.”
Julian Tagg, Exeter City’s Director of Sport and Vice Chairman said, "We are absolutely delighted that we are maintaining our relationship with Flybe. It transcends normal sponsorship agreements and is a matter of great pride to the club and its supporters to have Flybe so solidly with the club. To continue to have Flybe at our side, as we step further along our journey in the Football League, is another gesture of the confidence we have in each other.”
Concludes Mr Lilley: “Our support for the club goes way beyond the brand on the shirt. ranging from regular assistance with flying players and potential new signings around, to helping with scouting missions and reccies of forthcoming opposition teams. We would like to think that we have played a small part in the Club’s success over the last few years and we hope that the next two weeks will prove the most rewarding yet!”
