Flybe forecasting 8% increase in ticket sales for Easter travel
Flybe, Europe’s largest and most successful regional airline and the United Kingdom’s premier domestic airline, is preparing for a busy week ahead which – despite the economic climate - shows all signs of seeing large numbers of travellers determined to enjoy the best that Britain and Europe have to offer over the Easter Weekend.
Based on ticket bookings to date, bumper sales are forecast on all routes across the Flybe network with sales up 8% over last year with load factors topping 90% on many routes, and Good Friday being one of the busiest days as people head off to enjoy the first long holiday of the year.
Regional routes that make it affordable and convenient to visit friends and family are high on the top ten list with services to and from Belfast, the Scottish Highlands and the Channel Islands experiencing high demand.
However, other Flybe routes proving particularly popular for Easter travel this year also include those to and from:
Flybe has determined to keep Britain on the move with affordable prices to destinations across the UK and Europe making it even easier for people to get away and enjoy the long Easter weekend. Recent promotions, backed up by the airline’s innovative Book with Confidence guarantee offered through its free Redundancy Cover insurance, have struck a welcome chord with passengers looking for the best prices and bookings are brisk.
Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe, comments: “"With just days to go, we’re forecasting a bumper Easter weekend and also experiencing a higher than average rate of last minute bookings.
“Domestic travel has proved to be the most popular for families looking to get together over the long weekend. Travelling direct from regional airports is a far more convenient option for families, as it allows them to avoid heavily congested roads. With rail journeys all over the country being severely disrupted over Easter adding to already lengthy weekend journey times, travelling with Europe’s largest regional airline offers a very attractive and affordable option.
“We offer a great selection of regional destinations across the UK, and while there are still seats left, we’d advise prospective travellers to book their Easter travel without delay.”
