Company benefits from leading regional airline’s success at London Gatwick, Birmingham and Newcastle
Flybe, Europe's largest and most successful regional airline, has today announced it is to extend its relationship with Swissport, one of the world's largest airport service businesses, with the award of contracts for full ground handling services at three UK airports, namely Newcastle, Birmingham and London Gatwick. The contracts are for a period of three years effective April 1, the latter, ie London Gatwick, effective Sunday 29th March, 2009 for the start of the 2009 Summer Schedule.
This is the first time that Flybe has awarded its ground handling business to Swissport at London Gatwick airport while the contracts at Newcastle and Birmingham Airports renew existing business between the two companies. At all three airports, Swissport will provide full baggage handling and check-in services.

Flybe has grown rapidly at London Gatwick over the last 18 months to the point where it is now its third largest slot holder: the airline operates 23 routes out of Birmingham where it is the airport’s largest scheduled airline and eight out of Newcastle.
