Flybe awards new groundhandling contract at Inverness

Local firm benefits from leading regional airline’s success

Flybe, Europe’s largest and most successful regional airline, has appointed Dalcross Handling Ltd to provide it with full airline ground handling operations at Inverness Airport from March 29 for a period of three years.

The local company will benefit from the contract that is worth over £1-million over the period of the contract.

Dalcross Handling will be supporting Flybe’s front-of-house staff by checking-in passengers and loading baggage and cargo into its aircraft and has already been responsible for valeting Flybe’s aircraft.

Jonathan Breedon, Flybe’s Director of Customer Services comments: “Flybe is committed to supporting regional economies and to using local partners, so we are delighted that we will be working with a company such as Dalcross that has acquired such an excellent reputation in such a short period of time. We look forward to a long and successful partnership.”

Dalcross’ Operations Director, Davie Geddes, says he is proud of what has been achieved, adding: “The people involved in this company have achieved a huge amount in a short period of time and have earned a good reputation for customer service and reliability.  As a result, the Company is flourishing despite the difficult economic conditions.”

Flybe operates nine routes from its Inverness base and will begin operating a new service to Jersey at the start of its 2009 Summer Schedule.
