23rd January 2009
Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline and fastest growing airline in Scotland, is marking its support of Homecoming Scotland 2009, being launched this weekend, by slashing a number of fares by up to 50% on the quarter of a million seats on sale for travel to and from Scotland between March 1st and 31st May.
This special promotion - available for booking for four days only from today through to midnight on 27th January - has been designed to coincide with Scotland’s year-long celebrations of its heritage, culture and future, that takes off on Sunday, the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns’ birthday.
Many thousands of passengers will be flying to Scotland this weekend not just for the launch of Homecoming Scotland but also for Burns Night on Sunday. Flybe will be operating 536 flights on the 47 regional routes with which it serves the country, a 10% increase over the same period last year. Busiest routes will be from Birmingham and Southampton airports to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
“Flybe continues to reinforce its commitment to serving Scotland and its local communities,” says Chief Commercial Officer, Mike Rutter. “We are delighted to be able to help support this very special launch weekend by not only flying in thousands of homecoming Scots but by also making it affordable for even more people to return to their homeland with their friends and families for a visit in the upcoming months.”
Mr Rutter adds: “We are doing all we can to keep Britain on the move. Flybe offers an affordable choice of 35 primary destinations throughout the UK, making us the number one choice for people wanting to enjoy a Great British holiday close to home this year.”
Flybe’s 4-day seat sale, with hotels as well as flights slashed by up to 50%, is available for booking now on www.flybe.com. As an added bonus, passengers booking flights online during January will also be offered Flybe’s innovative free Book with Confidence redundancy cancellation insurance cover.**
