About our fleet

About our fleet

Fly one of the world’s youngest fleet!

We currently operate a fleet of 57 Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft and 14 Embraer 195 jets with an average age of under three years, making it one of the youngest and most fuel efficient in the world.

Bombardier Q400

The Bombardier Q400

The Q400 is a world leader in fuel economy and passenger comfort. It is a glass cockpit, FMS based modern airliner with jet-like performance. Any resemblance to the turboprops of old is entirely accidental. The vast majority of pilots will start on this fleet and those who join as co-pilots will rapidly gain the experience required for command. With such an aggressive expansion, opportunities for command will abound in almost every base.

The Q400 along with the Embraer will allow us to operate routes on which others cannot compete.

Embraer E195

The Embraer E195

The E195 has proved to be an outstanding success for Flybe. It is universally liked by both passengers and flight crews. For the 118 passengers, the light and spacious cabin offers a stunning 30 inch seat pitch as a minimum whilst the twin side by side seating arrangement guarantees excellent levels of comfort. In the flight deck, the state of the art, avionics suite is complemented by a full EFIS presentation and a highly integrated, systems centered cockpit layout. The fly-by-wire, flight controls make the aircraft a pleasure to operate and this is further enhanced by the provision of FADEC and auto throttle for easy control of the General Electric CF34 10E7 engines. Finally, Flybe is currently seeking approvals to use the Head Up Display to enable our pilots to continue operations in poor weather down to Category 3A limits. All of these factors combine to produce an extremely reliable and fuel efficient aircraft.

Embraer E175

The Embraer E175

The E175 is the little brother of the E195. The two aircraft are identical as far as the pilots are concerned. The only significant difference is that the 175 carries 88 passengers and is equipped with the CF34 8E5 engines which offer reduced power but better fuel efficiency.

Both of these excellent aircraft belong to the same family and they are considered as a common type for pilot licence and training purposes.
