Vienna Airport Guide

If you are travelling to or from Vienna Airport, you may wish to know a little about the hub's facilities and the local transport links available. To help you, we've created this handy guide on what to expect when travelling to and from this Flybe destination.

Vienna Airport (VIE) information

Location: Austria’s largest and busiest international airport is found 18km south east of the city centre. It is often referred to as Schwechat after the region it is in.

Contact Information: Vienna Airport, Flughafen Wien-Schwechat Obj., 1300, Austria. Telephone: +43 1 70070.
Transport links and parking

There are an excellent number of cost and very time efficient options for your journey to and from this major international hub.

Airport parking

There are a range of parking options, with space for up to 23,000 vehicles. The terminals (arrivals hall) can be reached from most of the car parks by means of covered walkways. Prices start from €3.70 per hour.

Vienna Airport by public transport

Vienna Airport arrivals can take advantage of excellent connections by public transport quick and direct to the city centre or, due to Austria’s location, internationally.

For example, the double-decker City Airport Train (CAT) takes a swift 16 minutes nonstop to central Vienna, costing just €12 each way.

The airport is also connected with the city's other transport hubs by the 3 Vienna Airport Lines (Postbus) stopping at all of Vienna's underground railway lines as well as the major "Wien West" and "Wien Meidling" railway stations. Buses to the city centre (Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz) conveniently run 24 hours a day with a journey time of just 20 minutes. Single fares for this service start from €8.

International buses are also available directly to destinations in Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic such as Bratislava and Budapest.

The cheapest option to travel from the airport terminal to central Vienna is to take the S-Bahn train - with an average journey time of 25 minutes to Wien Mitte rail station - this option costs from just €4.

Airport taxis

Taxi operators are located outside the arrivals terminal if this is your preferred choice of transport for ease.

Airport car hire

If you're planning to explore further afield in Austria or beyond, this may be a preferable option. You can either rent a car on arrival or prior to travel. The car hire centre is easily located via a short underground passage on level 0 of multi-storey car park 4 (P4).

Vienna Airport information for the business traveller
