Location: This large international hub, the third biggest airport in Germany, is found around 7km from the centre of the city.
Contact Information: Flughafenstraße 120, 40474 Düsseldorf, Germany.
Telephone: +49 211 4210.
This prominent international hub is accessible by a large ground transport infrastructure, meaning there are a number of options for both those catching a flight and making an onward journey.
If you wish to bring your own car, there are excellent parking facilities, even including a brand new car park, P7, which is inside the terminal itself - less than 2 minutes from the check-in desks. Good value long-term parking options are also available with prices starting from just €40 for 8 days' stay. All parking spaces can be reserved online or by phone ahead of time if desired.
Both Dusseldorf Airport arrivals and departure passengers wishing to use the train will need to use the rapid SkyTrain to commute between the terminal and the "Flughafen" airport railway station. Running from 3:45 a.m. until 0:45 a.m. daily, the journey end to end is just six-and-a-half minutes. When the SkyTrain is not in operation a shuttle bus operates between the terminals, the car park and the rail station.
Wonderfully located directly on a major axis of the European railway system, more than 350 trains - from street cars to the high-speed ICE - stop daily at the Düsseldorf Airport Station, opening up Germany and much of Europe to Dusseldorf Airport arrivals.
There are always taxis ready and waiting for you in front of central arrivals if public transport is not your preferred option for travel into the city centre. Approximate fares from to downtown Dusseldorf are around €20 and to downtown Essen approximately €48.
There is also the option of hiring a car and if you're planning to explore the city and maybe other parts of the country. All of the big name hire car companies are located within central arrivals – and keys can be collected and dropped off in the car hire centre in close proximity to the airport terminal.
