Passengers requiring wheelchair assistance

Flybe is happy to offer a complimentary wheelchair service to those passengers requiring wheelchair assistance. Please let us know at the time of booking or no later than 48 hours prior to departure if you or a member of your party requires wheelchair assistance. We will allocate you and where possible, the other members of your party, an appropriate seat on board the flight. We will, where possible, board you and your party before our other passengers, to give you more time to take your seat and get comfortable on board. We will also arrange for a wheelchair to be available at your destination airport. If you have any additional needs please also let us know.

In order for us to offer you the correct assistance, please let us know whether you require the wheelchair to:

  1. the foot of the aircraft steps, (this may be appropriate for a passenger who has difficulty in walking long distances or who may be a slow walker)
  2. the aircraft and then to the top of the steps (lifted on to the aircraft)
  3. or require full assistance to the aircraft and into your seat (lifted into the seat)

Travelling with own wheelchair or mobility equipment

Flybe is happy to accommodate up to two pieces of mobility equipment, if required by the passenger, for their journey. These will be carried in the hold free of charge. We are happy to accommodate manual and battery operated wheelchairs and buggies. We cannot currently accept mobility equipment powered by wet cell batteries.

Owing to health and safety limitations, our staff cannot lift any item weighing more than 30kgs. If your wheelchair cannot be broken down into pieces weighing less than 30kgs please contact us.

Flybe are aware of the value of wheelchairs and other mobility equipment, both financially and in respect of their indispensable nature. We will take every care with any disability equipment which we are asked to carry and every effort will be made to carry items required by our passengers for their journey.  We do however, recommend that the wheelchair owner purchases additional insurance, as airline limits of liability may not cover valuable items such as this.
